Oscar Klefbom has announced his retirement from the NHL at age 31 after seven seasons.

In an interview with Värmlands Folkblad, Oscar Klefbom confirmed he's stepping away following a four-year hiatus due to a persistent shoulder injury. Despite efforts to return, he could not play without pain.

Drafted 19th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2011, Oscar Klefbom made an impact as a top defensive player, notably during the early Connor McDavid era. He was also a key contributor to Sweden's gold medal at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Oscar Klefbom's career stats include 34 goals, 122 assists, and 156 points in 378 NHL games, plus 7 points in 16 playoff games. Though his playing days are over, Oscar Klefbom expressed a desire to remain involved in hockey in some capacity, stating he doesn't feel ready for a retired life just yet.
