A humorous incident is making waves in the hockey community after video footage emerged of a fan trying to bribe an NHL referee with cash during Saturday night's matchup between the San Jose Sharks and New York Islanders.

With the NHL trade deadline wrapping up on March 7, fans and teams were on edge, anxiously awaiting news of potential player trades-either departures or arrivals for their respective teams.
Some unexpected moves left fans stunned, such as the surprising trade of fan-favorite Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins to the Florida Panthers, serving as a reminder that the NHL is strictly a business, regardless of a player's popularity.
Amid the tension, a lighthearted moment provided much-needed comic relief on Saturday night.
During a goal review in the second period of the Sharks vs. Islanders game-ultimately ruled as no goal-a fan seized the opportunity to attempt influencing the referee while the cameras were on the penalty box.
The funny scene quickly went viral:
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman also took notice of the incident, commenting on it with a laugh:
"Check out the guy on the left of the screen"
