It looks as though the fate of Detroit Red Wings depth goaltender Jack Campbell, who has played in the AHL this year, has been decided for next year.

The Red Wings need help in goal, as each of the last several games have featured poor performances from both Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot; the latter allowed a total of 4 3rd period goals in tonight's 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals, marking Detroit's 5th straight regulation loss.
Earlier today, the Red Wings acquired Petr Mrazek from the Chicago Blackhawks despite a poor stat line; like Talbot, he's under contract for next year. It looks like Steve Yzerman will have his team carry all 3 goalies on the roster for the remainder of the year.
Where does this leave depth goaltender Jack Campbell? Signed by the Red Wings to a 1-year deal last summer to play in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the writing appears to be on the wall.
Per Red Wings insider George Malik of The Malik Report:
Has there been a shift in terms of the perception of Jack Campbell's return and growth?

Teams generally don't carry 3 goalies at the NHL or AHL levels, they don't play as many games at the AHL level,e makes it a challenge to give 3 starts, they have Sebastian who they want to give starts, they knew Jack was there, abundance of goaltenders, they knew they would have to move one as they went on, they "ham and egged" it with injuries, but later in the season they were able to move Ville to get everybody playing, and when they moved Ville to Anaheim, he's making a lot of $ playing in the AHL, they wanted Jack and Sebastian to play and give Husso the chance to play while moving the contract.

At the time they were comfortable with Alex and Cam in Detroit, but if you want goalies to be sharp you need them playing, especially down in the minors it's even harder, so they'll carry the three in Detroit, it's important to have a #3 here, they feel good about that and who is that #3?
Campbell has gone 2-6-1 with a 2.79 GAA and .892 SV% this year with the Griffins.
