Former top prospect leaves the NHL for the KHL

Maxime Comtois is the latest NHL player to head to the KHL, signing with Dynamo Moscow following Evgeny Kuznetsov's departure to Russia.
Comtois, a former Anaheim Ducks second-round pick (50th overall) in 2011, amassed 38 goals and 87 points in 211 NHL games. Unlike Kuznetsov, who won a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018, Comtois leaves the NHL without a championship.
His journey last season included a failed tryout with the Vegas Golden Knights and a stint with the AHL's Chicago Wolves, where he scored 12 goals and 28 points in 45 games before being released from his professional tryout. In March, he secured a two-way contract with the Carolina Hurricanes but played only one game before returning to the minors.
Comtois, now 25, has struggled to consistently succeed in the NHL and is returning to Russia to continue his professional career. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours with Dynamo Moscow.
