REPORT: Done deal for Leon Draisailt
According to insider Bob Stauffer, the Edmonton Oilers are set to sign Leon Draisaitl to an 8-year contract.
Stauffer confirmed the news after speaking with one of Draisaitl's agents, dispelling earlier reports from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period that suggested Draisaitl was seeking a 3-5year deal.
The announcement of Draisaitl's contract appears imminent, with leaks indicating that Draisaitl might even accept a salary discount to keep the team competitive. Jiri Poner, another of Draisaitl's agents, mentioned that the deal could be finalized early next week.
This news comes at a crucial time for the Oilers, who could use some positive publicity following the controversial hiring of Stan Bowman as General Manager. Securing Draisaitl long-term would undoubtedly boost the team's morale and fan support.
