The Florida Panthers are bringing in forward Matt Luff on a professional tryout for their 2024-25 training camp.

Luff, a 27-year-old undrafted forward from Oakville, Ontario, has played for the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, and Detroit Red Wings organizations, accumulating 15 goals and 12 assists in 106 NHL games.
Last season, Luff was limited to 26 games with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins due to an upper-body injury but still contributed 10 goals and 18 points. Known for his strong shot, physical play, and willingness to battle in front of the net, Luff is also recognized as a "glue guy" - a great teammate in the locker room. His high-energy style and ability to finish plays could fit well into Florida's system, which thrives on forward depth and competitiveness.
Despite losing key players to free agency this offseason, the Panthers have brought in free agents like Nate Schmidt, A.J. Greer, Tomas Nosek, and the Boqvist brothers (Jesper and Adam) to maintain their depth. Luff will be able to compete for a spot on the Panthers' Opening Night roster, adding another layer of competition to the team's forward group.
