Apparently the Red Wings missed out on Stamkos
The Red Wings had a quiet free agency compared to some other teams and it looks like they missed out on one of the biggest names on the market.
According to reports, Steve Yzerman had his sights on Steven Stamkos after it was revealed he would not be returning to Tampa Bay but was not willing to give the 35 year old an $8 million AAV like Nashville.
These fans that tried to will Stamkos to Detroit make me laugh. Yzerman is not going to shell out $8mil for a 35 year old. #LGRW
Despite not being able to sign Stamkos, the Red Wings did re-sign Patrick Kane on a team friendly deal which is a huge bonus for next season.
