BREAKING: Big signature for the Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings announced the signing of forward UFA Vladimir Tarasenko to a two-year deal at $4.75 million AAV.
Tarasenko, 32, is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, most recently with the Florida Panthers. He scored 23 goals and 32 assists over 76 games between Florida and Ottawa last season. Originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 2010, the veteran scorer can slide into a second-line winger role or serve as a third-line weapon.
Following the signing, the Wings traded Robby Fabbri and a conditional 4th-round pick to Anaheim for 22-year-old goaltender Gage Alexander. Fabbri's injuries stunted his growth, and this trade sheds his $4 million cap hit, making room for Tarasenko's salary.
