Seattle Kraken creates history by hiring Jessica Campbell as assistant coach
According to Ryan S. Clark of ESPN, the Seattle Kraken has made a historical move by hiring Jessica Campbell as an assistant coach on Dan Bylsma's staff for the upcoming season. This appointment makes Campbell the first woman in NHL history to be behind the bench.
Campbell, 31, previously served as an assistant coach for the Kraken's AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, where she helped lead the team to back-to-back Calder Cup Finals. She also has international experience, having been an assistant coach for Germany during the 2022 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship, where the team reached the quarterfinals.
This hiring is a significant milestone for women in sports, providing a role model for young girls aspiring to coach in the NHL.
