There's been more pressure on GM Steve Yzerman to address the team's lack of good defensive play. The thin depth in Detroit's defense forced Moritz Seider to take on an extremely heavy workload during the totality of the season, and while he did really good with the workload, it would not be fair to expect him to continue at that pace over and over, he could risk an injury at this pace.
The team needs to acquire another top-quality defenseman to share the load with Seider and Ottawa Senator Jakob Chychrun seems like a good trade candidate for the role, but even if it's not him, signing a good defenseman should be the top priority for Steve Yzerman.
