The New York Rangers are expected to be very active this offseason as they will aim to improve their first line which struggled this year.

One of the best options available in the UFA is veteran winger Patrick Kane, who will become a free agent once again this summer.

During his previous season with the Rangers, the Patrick Kane trade didn't have the expected results for the New York Rangers. He joined the team with high hopes on him, but Kane struggled with injuries throughout the year and didn't meet these previous expectations. Even though he started the postseason strongly, his performance wasn't as good in the later games and the Rangers were eventually eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs.

After a solid season with the Detroit Red Wings, Kane has proven that he is still one of the good forwards in the NHL. At 35 years old, he continues to be a consistent point producer and has a really strong championship experience. This makes him a desirable free agent in the NHL.

Kane's potential return to the Rangers could help their first line and their chances for a successful postseason. However, because of the disappointing season when he was with New York, Rangers GM Chris Drury might decide to go for a different direction in the offseason.
