For the 2nd time in less than a week, the Detroit Red Wings didn't get what should have been called a blatant high sticking penalty against them.

The Detroit Red Wings lost a defensive slugfest, a 2-1 final against the Carolina Hurricanes last night at Little Caesars Arena.
While Elmer Soderblom's goal gave the Red Wings life in the 3rd period to put Detroit back to within a single score, they couldn't build on it.
But once again, there was another frustrating moment for the Red Wings that should have resulted in a penalty but somehow went unmissed by the four pairs of eyes patrolling the ice wearing the stripes.
During the 2nd period, Dylan Larkin took a blatant high stick to the face from Hurricanes forward Mikko Rantanen at center ice that went undetected. Larkin immediately fell to the ice in front of his bench before slowly getting off the ice and receiving attention from the training staff.
While the would-be infraction didn't appear to draw blood from Larkin's face, there's still zero reason why that shouldn't have been a penalty to put Detroit's potent power play unit on the ice.
Larkin also reportedly expressed his frustration after the final horn by slamming his stick in the hallway leading toward the dressing room following the loss.
It's the 2nd time in less than a week that the on-ice officials somehow missed what should have been a blatant high-sticking penalty.
During Saturday night's Stadium Series game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the winning goal was scored as a result of Justin Danforth high sticking defenseman Simon Edvinsson in the face in clear sight of the referee - and yet, no call was made.
The Red Wings will now play the Utah Hockey Club on Thursday night in what has essentially become a must-win game.

Does the NHL have some kind of vendetta against the Red Wings that these blatant infractions aren't being called?
