Detroit Red Wings' Steve Yzerman Going all in on Acquiring $14M Stanley Cup Champion Ryan O'Reilly

The Detroit Red Wings have been linked to Nashville Predators forward Ryan O'Reilly, who won the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 and won the Conn Smythe Trophy for his efforts.
The Detroit Red Wings are going to be shorthanded the rest of the year, having lost fowrad Andrew Copp to pectoral surgery; he was hurt late last month after joining an on-ice ruckus against the Minnesota Wild.
And as it happens, they also lost forward Michael Rasmussen to a concussion; the good news is that he's expected back at any tine. He was hurt when he took a dirty blindside hit from Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras last night.
It's a rough situation for GM Steve Yzerman, who has either stood pat or sold at the Deadline, to be in.
The Red Wings have since been linked to St. Louis Blues and 2019 Conn Smythe Trophy winner Ryan O'Reilly as the Trade Deadline quickly approaches.
Rumors linking Ryan O'Reilly to the DRW. With an additional year on his current contract, ROR would be a great filler for the 2C Detroit has been looking for.
O'Reilly is still under contract with the Predators through 2027 with an average annual value (AAV) of $4.5 million.
The Predators, who will miss the playoffs, have been one of the most confusing teams in the NHL this year. Entering the year viewed by most as Stanley Cup contenders, they've since put together the 2nd to last record in the Eastern Conference.
O'Reilly has 36 points (14G, 22A) in 57 games this year. He's also played for the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs.
