In the final year of a four-year contract, Buchnevich has already signed a six-year, $42 million extension that begins in 2025-26, meaning Detroit would lock in a top-tier forward for the next seven seasons. His two-way play and scoring ability would complement the Detroit Red Wings' core, including stars like Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat.

In return, the St. Louis Blues would receive a promising young player in Jonatan Berggren, a 24-year-old forward with upside who just signed with the Detroit Red Wings as an RFA. Jonatan Berggren, drafted in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft, has shown flashes of potential in Detroit but could benefit from a larger role with the Blues. St. Louis would also gain three valuable draft picks, highlighted by a first-rounder, helping them restock their prospect pipeline during a potential rebuild.

This blockbuster trade would allow Detroit to immediately boost their offense and take another step toward playoff contention, while the Blues would acquire future assets to fuel their rebuild.
