Red Wings looking to follow the Panthers' style of play
The Panthers are now in the Stanley Cup finals for the second year in a row and it is not with luck, but due to their gritty style to play.
Florida is known for being a tough team that uses its body, forechecks a lot and focuses on defense first.
All these key ways on playing are things that the Red Wings can easily implement into their game for next season. Detroit has great third and fourth lines that can wear opposing teams down in the same way the Panthers do.
The Red Wings aspire to many of the features of the Panthers' game that make them so successful depth, forechecking, and tight defense are the virtues Derek Lalonde named as his team's objectives all season long. Florida has a mean streak to its game that wasn't necessarily a feature of this year's Detroit team; perhaps the Red Wings would be well served to add a bit more of that to their game. - Stockton
If the Red Wings are able to add these few tactics to their game, paired with their great offense, they can easily be a contender in the next few years.
