Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond will represent Sweden in the 4 Nations Faceoff, selected to the team thanks to his strong production for Detroit this year.

The Detroit Red Wings have gotten themselves a much-needed break as the NHL has paused for the 4 Nations Faceoff.

However, Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond won't have any time off after being selected by the American and Swedish squads..

Raymond talked about the honour that it is to represent his country along with playing with names that are normally his opponents.

I think anytime you put on your national team jersey and get to play for your country, it's always an honour and something that I think a lot of guys take a lot of pride in. So it's always exciting. And then obviously playing with guys you normally don't.

A lot of high profile players are going to play important minutes for their teams.

Right now, Raymond leads the Red Wings in scoring with 59 points (21G, 38A).

While some fans might have been hesitant to want Raymond to play for Sweden due to the risk of injury, Raymond is looking at it not only as a chance to play for his country but to also come in fresh when the Red Wings return to action later in February.

You can look at it different ways. I think it all depends on kind of what mindset you're going with it.

I think it's going to be an energy boost playing those type of games in those type of environments. And yeah, no rust to dust off when we get back.
