Detroit Red Wings' top-line forward Lucas Raymond is set to play for Sweden in the 4 Nations Faceoff, which begins tomorrow.
He was one of a pair of Red Wings players selected to play along with Dylan Larkin, who will suit up for the American squad.
However, he's been placed on the 3rd line along with Jesper Bratt of the New Jersey Devils and Joel Eriksson-Ek of the Minnesota Wild.
Sweden is deploying the following line combinations:
Nylander-Zibanejad-Rakell
Kempe-Pettersson-Forsberg
Bratt-Eriksson Ek-Raymond
Nyquist-Lindholm-Arvidsson
Given Raymond's talent level, it's an odd sight to see him not in the top-6.
Raymond and the Swedes, who include former Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist on the roster, will face Canada tomorrow.
Raymond has 59 points (21G, 38A) in 55 games for the Red Wings, who have experienced a resurgence after Todd McLellan was hired in place of the terminated Derek Lalonde on December 26.
Larkin, who was selected to play for the Americans, has been placed on the 4th line by coach Mike Sullivan; he's playing with Brock Nelson and Vincent Trocheck.
Larkin and the Americans will play Finland on Thursday.
The Red Wings captain is another Detroit player who has seen a boost in his offensive stats since McLellan took over.
