Could he be the next great Russian player for the Detroit Red Wings ?
That's the hope of general manager Steve Yzerman for Dmitri Buchelnikov, who the team selected in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft with the 52nd overall pick.
He's yet to make the jump to North America permanently to continue his career, as he continues his development playing for Hockey Club Vityaz Moscow Region in the Bobrov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League.
He found himself on the highlight reels thanks to a sick no-look pass to teammate Derek Barach, who fired the puck into the back of the net for a power play goal.
Right now, Buchelnikov has 41 points (13G, 28A) in 50 games played this year for Hockey Club Vityaz Moscow Region, and also earned Fastest Skater honours during the recent KHL Skills Competition prior their version of the All-Star Game.
Fans of the Red Wings who are old enough won't soon forget the incredible dynamic that former head coach Scotty Bowman put together on the ice that became known by the legendary nickname of "The Russian 5".
Forwards Sergei Fedorov, Igor Larionov, and Slava Kozlov up front with defensemen Slava Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov on the back end was the 1st time in NHL history that an all-Russian line hit the ice.
The Red Wings also got a Hall of Fame career from Pavel Datsyuk, who was just a rookie on the loaded 2001-02 team that won the Stanley Cup.
While it's been years since the Red Wings have had a top Russian talent as a regular on their team, Buchelnikov could just be it.
