The Red Wings are embarking on a 4-game road trip, and defenseman Moritz Seider discusses the importance of continuing their strong play.

The Detroit Red Wings are hitting the road for a 4-game trip that will take them through Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Seattle before they eventually return back home.

The trip begins tonight with a game against the Oilers (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

The Red Wings recently completed a 3-game sweep at Little Caesars Arena, beating the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning while also beating the Los Angeles Kings.

Thanks to their strong recent play, they've put themselves right back within striking distance of a postseason spot under coach Todd McLellan.

But the work is far from done, and defenseman Moritz Seider discussed what the Red Wings must do on this critical 4-game swing.

We want to continue riding a hot hand. I think we've shown that we're a good team on home ice, but we just have to translate it on the road. It's a little bit different approach. We got to keep the game more simple, little bit more north-south and really emphasize the shots in the early stages of the games.

Starting tonight against the Oilers who feature no shortage of top players, Seider discussed the importance of limiting their firepower and how to go about doing so.

Really focusing on keeping them to the outside, eliminating chances from the inner slot and try to eliminate extended D-zone shifts. I think the more we have the puck, the better we'll be and the more offense we'll play.
