Highly-regarded Detroit Red Wings prospect goaltender Sebastian Cossa, who is playing in the American Hockey League, has earned the latest honour in his career.

Detroit Red Wings prospect goaltender Sebastian Cossa continues to build up his resume in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins before he makes the jump to the NHL.

He's already picked up his 1st NHL victory, a 6-5 shootout win over the division foe Buffalo Sabres on December 9 after he replaced starter Ville Husso for the start of the 2nd period.

However, he was promptly returned to the AHL when the Red Wings got Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot back to health.

In the meantime, he's continuing to post impressive numbers with the Griffins and has now been named to the AHL All-Star Classic. Additionally, forward Auston Watson has earned the same honour.

Cossa, who the Red Wings took with the 15th pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, kept the credit on his teammates rather than accepting the full spotlight.

I've had a pretty good year so far. It's a cool achievement to get, obviously, a lot of credit goes to my team. We're a really defensively-minded team. Look at the numbers with all of our goalies, everyone's got really good numbers, and we have a really good team here.

For Cossa, it will be his 2nd All-Star appearance; he previously was named to the ECHL All-Stars roster while playing with the Toledo Walleye.

Cossa has gone 10-6-3 with a 2.30 GAA and a .918 SV%. Back in December, he made 12 saves in relief of Husso against the Sabres to pick up his 1st NHL victory.
