The Griffins have many players leaving but plan on staying competitive
The Griffins have multiple players set to be leaving for the Red Wings next season, with Jonatan Berggren, Simon Edvinsson and Albert Johansson all likely to make the team.
Yzerman said the Griffins still plan on being competitive next season despite these key players leaving.
Great goaltender prospect Sebastian Cossa will likely return to the Griffins next year, as management wants him to gain more experience since he is only 21. Jan Bednar, who is only 22, will also be returning, providing the Griffins with great goaltending.
Defensemen William Wallinder, Antti Tuomisto and captain Josiah Didier are all set to return as well which means they will have a lot of experience on the blueline.
Their forward line will likely take the biggest hit but will still include players like Cross Hanas, Amadeus Lombardi, and Austin Czarnik, who spent most of the season in the NHL but will likely be in the AHL next season.
While there are many skilled players leaving, the Griffins will still remain very competitive next season.
