The Detroit Red Wings were back on the ice for practice today before embarking on a 4-game road swing that will take them against the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Kraken.
The Red Wings recently swept their 3-game homestand with wins over the divisional foes Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning before rebounding from a 2-0 deficit against the Los Angeles Kings to win 5-2.
For the last several games, the Red Wings have been without forward Patrick Kane after he sustained an upper-body injury against the Dallas Stars last week.
They also have been without forward J.T. Compher after he took a dirty hit from Tampa Bay's Emil Lilleberg; it resulted in a 2-game suspension.
Following practice today, head coach Todd McLellan gave updates on the injured players, some of which were positive and one was negative.
With regard to the status of Patrick Kane, he skated but isn't likely ready to play on Thursday against the Oilers (9:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
The good news is that Vladimir Tarasenko, who had missed the last handful of games with an illness, was a full participant in practice and appears ready to go on Thursday, according to McLellan.
Compher did not participate in today's practice, and doesn't appear likely to play in tomorrow's game against the Oilers.
