Based on the latest contract information from the Red Wings, it looks like several players will not be returning with new contracts for next year.
The Detroit Red Wings have multiple pending free agents on their roster without contracts for next year, and based on the latest information, it looks like a handful of them are going to be playing elsewhere in the fall.
Take a look at the goaltenders who are currently under contract for the Red Wings:
Talbot and Mrazek are signed through next year, while Lyon and Campbell can become free agents in the summer.
Cossa is in the midst of his 3-year entry level contract, and will need a new deal by the summer of 2026.
Gylander was signed 2 year, $1,710,000 contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $855,000; like Cossa, he'll be a free agent in 2026.
Additionally, Gylander is in the last year of his 3 year, $2,430,000 contract with an AAV of $810,000; he'll be a free agent this summer.
Basd on the comments made by GM Steve Yzerman shortly after the re-acquisition of Mrazek from the Chicago Blackhawks, it looks like
Lyon could be the odd man out in terms of starting-caliber NHL goalies.
We're hoping Petr can come in and give us a boost in net. One thing that was attractive to us is he's signed for another season, and the goalie market right now looking into the summer, what goalies are signing for, the term and the dollar amount - for what our options were today and our options might be in the offseason, we thought it was good insurance for us.
We think his competitiveness and experience will give us some quality starts.
