As the Detroit Red Wings prepare for the last playoff push, sitting just below the Ottawa Senators in the Wild Card division, the organization is a finger-length away from making an appearance to this year's playoffs, leaving the team to be in dire need to take action in all areas necessary, including removing some faces from their lineup.
These plans have already taken off, on February 24, Detroit traded their goaltender,
Ville Husso, to the
Anaheim Ducks, which was a very necessary move as this goaltender dropped the team's depth chart immensely and the return left the organization with gained cap-space that was much needed.
The organization also made some big moves during the NHL trade deadline this past Friday, March 7, as they ensured to acquire and trade players.
These moves is just the start of Steve Yzerman's plan to make the team stronger contenders and it is not over yet, this may leave fans curious as to who will be out of Detroit next, and we have some insight.
Two Detroit Red Wings who could be trade candidates next:
This 33-year old winger is seemingly unfit for the Detroit Red Wings organization. He's lacked offensive numbers this season, despite the fact the NHL season is nearing completion.
Thus far into the year, Tarasenko has just seven goals, 23 points, and a minus -10 rating in 55 games. Hence his struggles, this winger's name has been floating around the rumour mill, leaving him to be a possible target for the Detroit Red Wings' GM, Steve Yzerman.
He currently sits at one goal, five points, and a minus -7 rating in 49 games. Rounding up his numbers to be much worse than Tarasenko. However he was placed on waivers back in October, but still remains in Detroit's lineup due to his whopping contract, $3.4 million cap hit until the end of next season.
Despite his expensive contract, the Red Wings found a taker for Husso's contract last month. Could they try to do the same for Holl?
Although no new trades have been set and stone, we can hope for these two candidates to find a new organization, to relieve some of the Detroit Red Wings' cap space.
