Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin missed practice ahead of Monday's clash with the divisional foe Senators, and coach Todd McLellan has the latest on him.

The Detroit Red Wings find themselves in a precarious position heading into Monday night's clash against the divisional foe Ottawa Senators.
Ottawa has leapfrogged them in the standings; Detroit is now 3 points out of a playoff spot with time running out in the schedule.
Captain Dylan Larkin was absent from Sunday's practice at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit before the team took a plane to Ottawa for Monday's game - but according to coach Todd McLellan, it was simply a maintenance day for Larkin.
Just a maintenance day for him, he should be fine. He'll be on the plane and ready to go tomorrow in Ottawa.

Larkin has 55 points (26G, 29A) so far this year.

Larkin was recently called out by coach Todd McLellan

Following a subpar game at home, Larkin's performance was the was the subject of criticism from coach Todd McLellan.
I can't beat around the bush, he was missing. He's a big boy, he can handle hearing that. He's going to hear it from me. Just a lot of mishandles, unsure plays that he usually makes.

Larkin responded with a better outing in his next contest, though he wasn't able to lead the Red Wings to a win.
Larkin and the Red Wings would be wise to get back into the winning side of things as soon as possible before their year slips away.
