Veleno Signs New Contract, Fueling His Motivation for the 2024-25 Season
After his most productive NHL season in 2023-24, Joe Veleno has a lot to reflect on both on and off the ice. Signing a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings on July 20 has only fueled his ambition for the upcoming season.
After a productive season and securing a new contract, Veleno is feeling optimistic about his future with the team.
"It's nice to have a deal done," Veleno shared. "I want to be here and stay here. I don't envision myself anywhere else."
Selected 30th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Veleno set career-highs in goals (12), assists (16), and points (28) in 80 games last season. The 24-year-old forward showcased his versatility, playing both wing and center, and contributing to special teams.
Veleno feels he has grown into a more complete player and is determined to keep improving.
"Having that (multi-year contract) security is nice, but now it's time for me to keep going," Veleno said.
Training in Montreal this offseason, Veleno is working on all facets of his game and is eager to reunite with his teammates and meet new additions at Training Camp.
