New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello provided updates on veteran forwards Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin during rookie camp.

Cal Clutterbuck, 36, won't return for his 12th season with the Islanders, despite playing all 82 games last season, hitting milestones like 1,000 NHL games, and becoming the first player in history to record 4,000 hits.

While he expressed interest in continuing his career, the Islanders' additions of Anthony Duclair and Maxim Tsyplakov have made his path back to the roster unclear. It's uncertain if Clutterbuck will seek a professional tryout (PTO) with another team.

Meanwhile, Martin has been invited to the Islanders' camp on a PTO. The 35-year-old, who has played 13 of his 15 NHL seasons with the Islanders, stated his intention to play next season, even if his future is uncertain. Martin, Clutterbuck, and Casey Cizikas formed "The Identity Line," known for their energy and physicality. Whether Martin makes the team or not, it marks the end of an era for the Islanders as they transition away from these veterans.
