Adam Johnson gets spectacular on-ice tribute from the Nottingham Panthers
Late last year, Adam Johnson was tragically killed during an on-ice incident in the Elite Ice Hockey League overseas.
The Nottingham Panthers player had previously been a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Matt Petgrave's skate came up and hit Johnson, and for many, it was a truly traumatic injury.
Now, the Panthers are giving their late player a fitting tribute. His name will now be on their ice with the words "Forever Our 47."
With this tribute, Johnson's memory and legacy with the Panthers will certainly live on. Hopefully, it also encourages players to wear more neck protection, moving forward.
Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the tribute, in the poll down below. Additionally, you can keep it locked to Red Wings Insider for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
