Former Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has helped the Edmonton Oilers reach the Stanley Cup finals. Ken Holland left the Red Wings organization five years ago and now once again is close to the Stanley Cup. The Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals in Edmonton on Sunday night to win the series 4-2. The Oilers will now face the Florida Panthers in the final round of the playoffs.

Ken Holland was the general manager of the Red Wings from July 18, 1997, until April 19, 2019. Holland then moved to an advisory role and Steve Yzerman was named general manager the same day.

Then two weeks later, Holland was named general manager of the Edmonton Oilers. Holland clearly wanted to continue as a GM in the NHL. He took over a team that already had talent as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, two of the best players in the NHL, were already drafted by the Oilers.

Top moves that Holland made with the Oilers include signing Zach Hyman, Corey Perry and Evander Kane. This season, the Oilers started off poorly, however they rebounded and finished 2nd within their division. Now Holland is hoping to bring the 1st Stanley Cup to Canada in over thirty years.
