Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has earned himself a promotion in the American lineup from coach Mike Sullivan for tonight's game against Canada.
Fans of the Detroit Red Wings were quick to notice that captain Dylan Larkin, who was selected to play for the Americans in the 4 Nations Faceoff, was barely utilized by coach Mike Sullivan in their 6-1 win over Finland on Thursday.
Larkin barely played 11 total minutes, and wasn't used on any of the American power play chances despite leading the Red Wings with 12 PPG.
But for tonight's game against Canada, Larkin has moved up into the lineup. He's now centering the 3rd line, and is flanked by J.T. Miller and Matt Boldy.
The American line combinations for tonight's game are as follows:
Despite the disappointing 4-3 OT loss to Finland, Sweden forward Lucas Raymond, who was the 2nd Red Wings player chosen to play in the 4 Nations Faceoff, continued his strong play.
He picked up his third assist in two games and leads Sweden in total points.
Raymond and the Swedes will face Larkin and the Americans on Monday as the 4 Nations Faceoff shifts locations, moving to Boston.
