The Red Wings have the 15th overall pick at this years draft and it seems to be the perfect spot for their current needs.
When it comes to the draft, the lottery picks and high 1st rounders are often either centers or defenseman since these are the most sought-after positions. Since the Red Wings have multiple prospects for these positions their focus this year will mostly be on wingers.
At 15th overall, the Red Wings will be able to get their hands on some of the best wingers available since the majority of the team ahead of them will be going after centers and defensemen.
"In the early picks of the first round, the 2024 NHL Draft should see many defensemen and centers come off the board. This is partly because these positions take a higher level of skill to play."
This is great news since the Red Wings will not need to trade prospects and picks to get a high draft pick at this year's draft since they will be able to get what they need with their current pick.
