NHL insider Kevin Weekes announced today that the New Jersey Devils are nearing the reveal of their next head coach, and it appears to be Sheldon Keefe.

The New Jersey Devils are actively searching for a new coach. Following his recent dismissal from the Toronto Maple Leafs, where Craig Berube replaced him, sources indicate that Sheldon Keefe might be at the top of New Jersey's list.

Reports indicate that both parties have been in discussions for several days, and there appears to be a verbal agreement in place, which would confirm the rumors.

Was told there is a verbal agreement in place with Sheldon Keefe again it comes down to it he wants the job. But again nothing official is official but have to expect the announcement next day or two. #njdevils @FullPressNHL @myNHLTradeRumor

His coaching record stands at 212 wins from 349 regular season games. However, in the playoffs, he has only 16 wins from 37 games, historically indicating a losing record when it matters most. Yet, he has only coached Toronto; with a new team and new staff, things might change.
