Cam Talbot says shutout win over Lightning was proof of major component for Red Wings
The Red Wings picked up a 2-0 shutout win over the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to a 28 save shutout from goaltender Cam Talbot.
The Detroit Red Wings earned themselves a huge pair of points in the standings, beating the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning by a 2-0 score on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena.
Marco Kasper and Michael Rasmussen (empty net) scored for the Red Wings, who also got 28 saves from Cam Talbot for his 2nd shutout of the season.
Talbot knows the Red Wings beat a competitive opponent with dangerous players, but was sure to give credit to his teammates in front of him.
That's team with a lot of pedigree, winning pedigree, and know how to pull out these tight games. Kucherov sitting there with the puck, he has options and you know he's going to find someone eventually. Give the guys in front of me a lot of credit, they blocked shots, and boxed out and let me see most of the pucks tonight and sometimes you have to weather the storm and get a lucky bounce.
We did a little bit of all that tonight.
Talbot also said their win over the Lightning serves as proof that they can win games in any manner that they please - and it meant more, especially after the Lightning beat them 5-1 at Amalie Arena last week.
It proves we can win games any way we need to right now. We can put five or six (goals) on the board or we can make one (goal) hold up. That gives you a ton of confidence, especially against a team like that and coming back from what they did to us in their building last week.
