Postseason chances for the Red Wings have taken a considerable jump
Thanks to three consecutive victories on home ice, the Detroit Red Wings have seen their postseason chances jump dramatically in the last few days.
The Detroit Red Wings have swept their 3-game home swing with victories against the divisional rival Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning, and followed that up with another win over the Los Angeles Kings.
During Monday night's game, the Kings took a 2-0 lead in the 1st period which included a gaffe by defenseman Moritz Seider in which he put the puck into his own net past teammate Cam Talbot.
But they rattled off 5 consecutive unanswered goals, including a pair of goals from rookie Marco Kasper and the 1st of the year from Elmer Soderblom, recently re-called from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
As of now, the Red Wings chances to make the 2025 postseason stand at 27.5%, up from 12% last week.

It was a change that desperately needed to be made, and GM Steve Yzerman executed the move on December 26.
He dismissed former coach Derek Lalonde and assistant Bob Boughner, and brought in former 2008 Stanley Cup-winning assistant coach Todd McLellan in the head coaching role, while also hiring Trent Yawney as an assistant.
Since his hiring, the Red Wings have gone 11-4 and are tied for the NHL lead in points since December 26.
At that time, they were tied for the last place in the Eastern Conference with the Buffalo Sabres and were a full 8-points outside of a playoff spot. Now, they're just 2-points out of the Wild Card.
