Can Copp get back on the right track next season?
Yzerman signed forward Andrew Copp 2 years ago as he was coming off a career high year in points with 53 between the Jets and Rangers.
Since getting to Detroit, Copp's point production total has gone down every year. In his first season here, Copp accumulated 42 points, 11 less than the previous year and this year it went down again as he finished with 39 points.
Copp said in a recent interview that he believes he can be a top 6 forward if he is put in the right situations.
«I think I've proven that I can be a top-six offensive player,» Copp said after the season. «It wasn't what was asked of me. I love going up against the other team's top line. If you were to look at the No. 1 strength of my game, you would say hockey IQ and defending. Obviously, everyone wants to produce, everyone wants to score goals. Whatever is best for the team is the biggest thing."
The Red Wings forward believes he was used more as a shut down forward this season which is why his production went down.
