Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso breaks silence after 1st win in over a year
Detroit Red Wings goalie Ville Husso rebounded from a poor outing on Monday, picking up his 1st NHL win since December of last year by beating the Leafs.
For the first time in what seemed like an endless loop, the Detroit Red Wings got goaltender Ville Husso his 1st win since December of last year.
Husso helped the Red Wing defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs at Little Caesars Arena, making several key saves and helping Detroit break a skid that had seen them lose six of seven.
The Finnish goaltender later explained that it was his early lessons as a youngster of fighting through adversity that helped him during the tough stretch.
It feels good. It's been kind of a tough go there last year, injuries and this year no wins. So just keep grinding and it's called Fini sisu actually (have resiliency), they teach us at a young age in Finland and just trust yourself and do your job.
It's not always easy, but it was nice to get the win for sure tonight.
Among Husso's best saves in last night's game was a point-blank pad save on Chris Tanev, while also robbing Mitch Marner on a breakaway attempt in the 3rd period.
The Red Wings went right back to Ville Husso after another injury to Cam Talbot
The Red Wings went right back to Husso in net after Cam Talbot, who started against the Flyers earlier in the week, re-tweaked the injury that had kept him out of game action since December 1 up until Thursday.
If Husso can deliver more performances like he did against the Leafs, it would put Red Wings fans' minds at ease about their chances of winning.
