Detroit Red Wings players reveal true opinions of Sebastian Cossa after he picks up 1st career NHL win
History was made on Monday night as the Detroit Red Wings took down the Sabres 5-4 in the shootout, and picking up Sebastian Cossa's 1st career NHL win.
Not only did the Detroit Red Wings enjoy a comeback victory over the Buffalo Sabres to break their five-game winless skid, but goaltender Sebastian Cossa also picked up his 1st career NHL win.
Cossa was thrust into action for the second period after starter Ville Husso surrendered three goals on seven shots; he proceeded to make 12 saves in regulation/overtime along with a pair of saves in the shootout, allowing only Alex Tuch's goal in the skills competition.
Cossa's Red Wings teammates were impressed with the level of poise he showed in net despite allowing two early goals in his first taste of NHL action.
Dylan Larkin, who scored the deciding goal in the shootout, marveled at how good a teammate that Cossa has been.
I feel really good for him, he's a great guy and he's come in and been a great teammate.
Even after the first two that went in against him there's not much you can do. We got to be better in front of him, but he made some huge saves in the third.
Sebastian Cossa made NHL history with his 1st win
Cossa became the 1st NHL goalie to pick up his inaugural win by coming in relief for his team's starter, and emerging on top in the shootout.
Defenseman Moritz Seider, who scored the tying goal in the 3rd period, expressed his happiness for Cossa and felt he deserved a shot.
I think he lives for those kind of opportunities. He worked really hard in practice, really deserved a chance.
Obviously, we weren't good enough in the first, didn't really help out Huss. Still, we came together as a team and pulled out a great win here.
