Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin exposed another major difference between the coaching styles of Todd McLellan and the recently fired Derek Lalonde.
The Detroit Red Wings have now won 7-straight games, which marks their longest winning streak since 2011-12.
The Red Wings have been completely reborn under the leadership of coach Todd McLellan, who has brought a new aura of excitement, accountability, and intensity to the club that was floundering on December 26 when Derek Lalonde (and assistant Bob Boughner) were dismissed.
The Red Wings beat the Seattle Kraken 6-2 at Little Caesars Arena for the milestone win, racing out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st eight minutes of play. Not only are the Red Wings exciting to watch again, but they're right back within striking distance of a playoff spot.
But as Dylan Larkin said, the practice sessions for the Red Wings have been much more intense since McLellan took over, leading to better results on the ice during games.
Todd has come in and we've worked on a lot, and it starts with practice, the intensity and how we practice, we're up and down and we're moving. There's a lot of pace, a lot of teaching moments. And then, we've been tested in games; tonight was another challenge where after Chicago coming in and we played well, we had to follow it up against a good team and we did that.
We ended up closing out the game. I think with every game, there have been lessons within those games, and we've answered every time. It's good to see and good to get some wins.

In fact, Detroit's 1st official full practice under McLellan was their longest of the year, as noted by MLive's Ansar Khan.
