The Detroit Red Wings have picked up 7-straight wins, their most since 2011-12; it's an indicator of how much differently they're playing under coach Todd McLellan.

You'd better not touch the Detroit Red Wings right now, because you'll get burned.

The Red Wings have now won 7-consecutive games, their longest winning streak since 2011-12; that was Nicklas Lidstrom's final year in the NHL, Mike Babcock was still the head coach, and Danny DeKeyser's NHL career hadn't even begun.

They beat the Kraken 6-2 at Little Caesars Arena thanks to a high-flying start in which they scored 4 goals in the first eight minutes of play; Marco Kasper, J.T. Compher, Alex DeBrincat (PPG), and Patrick Kane all lit the lamp during what was the most exciting 1st period of hockey for Detroit so far this year.

Erik Gustafsson and Dylan Larkin scored in the 2nd period for the Red Wings, who cruised to their 20th win of the year and have vaulted themselves right back on the cusp of the playoffs, something that seemed nearly unthinkable at the time GM Steve Yzerman parted ways with Derek Lalonde.

It's Todd McLellan's show now, and he's provided an immediate spark to a team that badly needed it. As he said, the team has lifted their own spirits with the way they've played.

I don't know if Todd and Trent just coming in lifted the spirit, we kind of had to map out a bit of a plan. But they've lifted their own spirits with the way they've played and the way they bought in; we're just trying to guide them through it all.

You win seven games in a row, you're feeling pretty good and the spirit's really good right now; it's high. We're in a good spot, but all we did was crawl back into it but we've got a lot of work ahead of us.
