Captain Dylan Larkin is getting honest about how he feels about this current version of the Red Wings as opposed to past editions of the team that he's played for.

The Detroit Red Wings may have seen their 7-game winning streak come to an end yesterday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but that hasn't stopped captain Dylan Larkin from expressing his true thoughts on the current edition of the team.

Larkin, who has been a mainstay on the Red Wings since entering the NHL as a rookie in 2015-16, believes that this current version of the team is the best that he's played for.

Yeah, I think so. We've been getting unbelievable goaltending and we've been wearing teams down. I haven't been able to say that for too many teams.

Larkin has made one single playoff appearance in his career, and that happened to take place in his aforementioned rookie year.

Since then, the Red Wings have been in a rebuilding process that included the worst season for the team as a whole since the mid-1980s in 2019-2020.

Larkin was named captain of the team prior to 2020-21, officially succeeding Henrik Zetterberg in the role that was vacated since the latter was forced to stop playing thanks to a debilitating back ailment in 2018.

Fans won't forget how gutted Larkin appeared after the Red Wings just missed out on a playoff spot last year after the final game in Quebec against the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens, and know how much the overall team success means to him.

He's in Detroit for the long haul, having agreed to sign an eight-year extension in 2022.
