After an impressive rookie season, Robert Mastrosimone, a 23-year-old forward, has re-signed with the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Drafted 54th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Mastrosimone was under contract with Detroit last season but was not re-signed.
In his rookie season, Mastrosimone recorded stellar underlying numbers in a bottom-six role for the Marlies. Despite being drafted five years ago, he has yet to make his NHL debut, but his performance in the AHL suggests potential for future NHL opportunities.
Mastrosimone's solid rookie season might attract attention from NHL teams seeking a skilled forward. At 23, he still has a bright future, and there's optimism that an NHL team will eventually give him a shot. The Marlies will benefit from his abilities as he continues to develop and build on his successful first season in the AHL.
