The Detroit Red Wings depth is their biggest strength for the 2024-25 NHL season.
GM Steve Yzerman is confident in the roster's potential, noting improvements and better role fits.

Offensive Depth
The top six forwards feature five players with 30-goal seasons:

- Dylan Larkin
- Patrick Kane
- Alex DeBrincat
- Vladimir Tarasenko
- Lucas Raymond

Kane, DeBrincat, and Tarasenko have all achieved 40-goal seasons, adding significant scoring power.

Coach Derek Lalonde can choose combinations like pairing DeBrincat and Kane or placing Tarasenko with Larkin and Raymond. The bottom six could see a checking line of Andrew Copp, Michael Rasmussen, and Christian Fischer or more offense with Jonatan Berggren.

Defensive Depth
Despite losing Shayne Gostisbehere and Jake Walman, the defense remains strong:

- Moritz Seider with Ben Chiarot
- Simon Edvinsson with Jeff Petry
- Olli Maatta with Erik Gustafsson
- Justin Holl and prospects Albert Johansson and William Lagesson provide additional depth.

Goaltending Depth
The Red Wings boast four veteran goaltenders:

- Alex Lyon
- Ville Husso
- Cam Talbot
- Jack Campbell

This competition will push each goalie to improve, boosting team confidence. Overall, Detroit's depth across the roster positions them well for the upcoming season.
