The Detroit Red Wings had new life breathed into them by head coach Todd McLellan, and Patrick Kane is noticing the changes that have benefitted the team overall.

Despite dropping Todd McLellan's 1st game back behind the bench on December 27, the Detroit Red Wings have since rattled off four consecutive victories.

Among their wins included a 4-2 victory over the Metropolitan Division-leading Washington Capitals, a New Year's Eve win over the Pittsburgh Penguins (who beat them 6-3 on Opening Night) and a 4-2 win over the NHL-leading Winnipeg Jets.

Captain Dylan Larkin admitted that the Red Wings feel like they have new life since the coaching change, and that sentiment was repeated by forward Patrick Kane, who has much more closely resembled the near point-per-game player he was last year for Detroit.

I've played on teams where you're kind of out of the playoffs with 20 games left or it doesn't look very bright and it's not fun to play those games. We kind of worked ourselves back into a position where we're playing these meaningful games. But that just shows how tight it is. I mean, things can change overnight. That's why every game's so important from here.

We're going to Winnipeg, best team in the league, and I feel like everyone in the locker room felt that we could win that game. So, I think our confidence is rising. Obviously, you got to give credit where credit's due.

Todd's brought in a lot of energy and made some changes in our game that have definitely helped us.

Kane himself has benefitted from the coaching change, as he has 7 points (3G, 4A) since the move was made. He also picked up his 1,300th career point in the win over Washington.
