Detroit Red Wings coach Todd McLellan was brutally honest after the Red Wings lost 6-3 to the Sharks, ending a 7-game winning streak thanks to numerous breakdowns.

As they say, all good things must eventually come to an end. The Detroit Red Wings finally had their 7-game winning streak snapped as the San Jose Sharks, who had won only 13 games this year, collected win No. 14 with a 6-3 win at Little Caesars Arena.

Macklin Celebrini, the 1st overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, had a pair of assists while William Eklund had 3 points (1G, 2A).

Meanwhile, the Red Wings got a pair of goals from Vladimir Tarasenko, who had previously gone 18 games without scoring. Goaltender Ville Husso did not have a good return in his 1st game in a month, allowing 5 goals on 23 shots.

While the Red Wings fought back twice in the 3rd period to cut the gap to a goal, their comeback efforts were hampered by sloppy play in their defensive zone, especially an egregious turnover by Justin Holl just moments after Lucas Raymond cut Detroit's deficit to 4-3.

Red Wings coach Todd McLellan pulled no punches, categorizing Justin Holl's performance as "terrible".

Sending a message? He sent himself a message, I think that's pretty obvious. You can march him in here; I'm not going to sit up here and B.S. for him, he had a terrible night. And that's just the way it is.

So, whether he got on in the last 5 minutes or not, it really doesn't matter. He knows he can play better, and I'm telling you before I tell him, but I'm going to tell him that tomorrow. It's up to him to fix, I know he's a better player than that.
