Jacob Trouba reveals the truth about his interest in playing for Detroit Red Wings
Recently-traded former New York Rangers defenseman was previously linked to his hometown Detroit Red Wings before ultimately landing with the Anaheim Ducks, and now he's telling his side of the story.
The Detroit Red Wings reportedly missed out on the chance to acquire now-former New York Rangers defenseman and captain Jacob Trouba.
Trouba was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks earlier today, not long after Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette removed him from the lineup for their upcoming tilt against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden.
But did he have interest in joining his hometown Detroit Red Wings? Trouba admitted during a live interview tonight on ESPN that while it crossed his mind, they apparently never reached out to him from the organization to express their interest.
Obviously I've thought about that. I think somebody should maybe verify with the Red Wings if they were interested. Has anybody taken that route?
Weekes then responded:
What followed could be described as nothing more than awkward silence.
Trouba and his new Ducks teammates will take on the Red Wings in February in Detroit.
Reported Detroit Red Wings target Jacob Trouba, now with the Anaheim Ducks, threw a jab at the Rangers on his way out the door
Trouba, who had worn the captain's "C" on his sweater for the past three years, couldn't help but throw an unsubtle jab at the Rangers on his way out the door.
I'm not overly thrilled with how it went down...my opinion, things could've been handled better.
