All the best to longtime Detroit Red Wings analyst John Keating, who announced that he's retiring at this year's end!

It will be a different feeling on Detroit Red Wings local broadcasts after this year.

Longtime Red Wings (and Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball) analyst John Keating announced via social media earlier today that he intends to call it a career after 45 years and 20 Emmy Award wins.

I've had a terrific run. I don't know that I'm the face of anything. We have a great team of people, and the fact that I've been a part of it and seen the things I've seen, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Everybody talks about, 'I wish I were younger.' I don't have that. I wouldn't trade what I've been able to experience.

Keating then joked that his wife Linda will now have to put up with him much more often.

She's greatly distressed about the notion of having me around all the time. She would like the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup if only to keep me away from her a little longer.

Keating has worked for local Detroit broadcasts from the days of the PASS Network, followed by Fox Sports Detroit (later known as Bally Sports and currently down as FanDuel Sports).

He's covered the Red Wings Stanley Cup wins in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008, the Detroit Pistons' NBA championship in 2004, and a pair of Tigers appearances in the World Series in 2006 and 2012.

We at Red Wings Insider wish John Keating all the best in his retirement and send our thanks for all of the memories!
