Major betting website links Detroit Red Wings to former Flyers head coach

If the Detroit Red Wings become the third NHL team to fire their head coach this year, one former coach of the Flyers has been linked to them as a possibility.
Two NHL teams have already fired their head coaches this year, and the Detroit Red Wings are neither one of them.
After expectations weren't being met with the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks, both teams parted ways with their respective head coaches.
Meanwhile, as expectations continue to not be met in Detroit, they seem content to hang on to maligned coach Derek Lalonde despite the overwhelming objections of the fan base and a growing number of media pundits.
But if Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman decided to make Derek Lalonde the first Detroit coach fired mid-season since 1985, a former Flyers head coach has been floated as a possibility replacement.
According to Bet MGM, Dave Hakstol, who most recently led the Seattle Kraken to Game 7 of the second round in 2023 before being fired last year (again, after expectations weren't being met), has been listed as someone Yzerman could consider.
Lalonde's job security was questioned big time this offseason after the Red Wings' poor finish to the 2023-24 campaign. While they elected to keep him around, it is fair to wonder how much longer of a leash he will have from here.

Potential Replacement: Dave Hakstol is a coach to watch if the Red Wings want to make a change behind the bench. He has plenty of experience and could help the Red Wings get back on the right track because of it.
Despite leading the Kraken to the postseason in just their second year in the NHL, Haktsol was fired by GM Ron Francis after going 34-35-13 in 2023-24.
He was also fired by the Flyers in December of 2018, in the midst of his fourth year with the team.
