Red Wings are front runners to sign Kane
Superstar forward Patrick Kane is set to be a free agent of July 1st and it seems like multiple teams are interest in the 36 year-old.
According to reports, the Red Wings are the front runners to sign Kane as they have a promising young team and he is coming off a solid year in Detroit.
"I don't think I would go any higher than that, based off the age (35). He was at around a point per game, and he was coming off hip surgery, so I think he'll be a better player next season. But it has to be the right fit. When he's around, his aura is very large: who has to have the puck on the power play, who has to be out there in certain situations. I'd be careful."
Insider Frank Servalli believes Kane's deal will likely be around $4 million AAV on a 2 year contract which the Wings can easily afford.
Kane has a solid season after coming back from major surgery putting up 47 points in 50 games for the Wings.
