Following a frustrating 4-3 loss to the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens, captain Dylan Larkin revealed what must be done to avoid a 2nd straight loss.

The Detroit Red Wings failed to hold a 3rd period lead yet again, falling to the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens by a 4-3 final score at Little Caesars Arena.

The setback brought the Habs closer to the Red Wings in the standings, while Detroit failed to put more distance between themselves and their Original 6 rivals.

Captain Dylan Larkin, who was clearly unhappy with the loss,, explained that it was a good thing that he and his teammates got another crack at the Habs just one night later.

We've just got to capitalize on our chances, play with a little more intensity and minimize our mistakes. They get a little bit off the rush, but you look at the goals they score and there were just some key breakdowns.

A lot of it we talk about---breaking the puck out well, coming back to the house and stopping, puck management. We clean those things up and play with a little more intensity. We get to play those guys again [on Saturday night]. That's the best part about this is the quick turnaround.

The Red Wings and Canadiens will play tonight at Bell Centre, the first trip by the Red Wings to Montreal since their 5-4 shootout win to close out last year.

It was a dramatic finish to the game, as David Perron literally saved Detroit's season with a game-tying goal with moments left in regulation, temporarily keeping the Red Wings' postseason hopes alive.

But the dream died just seconds later in real time thanks to the Washington Capitals defeating the Philadelphia Flyers on the same night.
