Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen, who picked up another point, pointed toward a major issue in last night's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens at Little Caesars Arena.

The Detroit Red Wings lost a frustrating matchup against their divisional foe Montreal Canadiens last night at Little Caesars Arena, a 4-3 final that brought a halt to Detroit's 2-game winning streak.

Not only did Montreal seize the go-ahead goal in the 3rd period on the power play, but they also managed to score a shorthanded goal in the 1st period. Meanwhile, the Red Wings failed to score on four different power play chances.

But in addition to the special teams failures, there was also one major issue that contributed to the loss, according to Michael Rasmussen- not taking care of the puck.

A lot of it was breakdowns. We weren't on our heels like we had been in previous games maybe when we had the lead. We could have took better care of the puck. Just breakdowns.

Michael Rasmussen picked up a highlight-reel worth assist in the 3rd period

Rasmussen, who scored in Wednesday night's Red Wings win over the Flyers, picked up a beautiful assist on what was briefly the go-ahead goal in the 3rd period by Tyler Motte.

Rasmussen stole the puck in Montreal's zone and broke in on Sam Montembeault before pulling the puck back and sending a backhand feed to Motte, who fired the puck past the Habs goalie:

Rasmussen said he was generally aware of where Motte was on the ice and that it wasn't a planned play.

Motter works hard, goes in the right spot. He's good on the forecheck, he skates really well. I knew he was in the area; I just threw it out there hoping he was there.
